Five Ministries Promoting the Industrialization of Environmental Technology, Demand on Environmental Protection Equipment is Expected to Increase Dramatically

Five ministries are vigorously promoting the industrialization of domestically produced environmental protection technologies and equipment. They will promote the accelerated development of related technology research and development and equipment manufacturing industries through research and development subsidies and expansion of market demand. Listed environmental protection companies with relevant technologies will significantly benefit.
In order to implement the “12th Five-Year” national strategic emerging industry development plan” issued by the State Council, and to boost the development of environmental protection technology and equipment, the five Ministries, including the NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission),Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Environmental Protection, jointly developed the “Implementation Plan on the Industrialization Project of Major Environmental Protection Technology Equipment and Product”.
With an implementation period of three years, the overall objective of the program will be reached in 2016. On the basic guarantee of the four obligatory targets, namely the emission reduction of sulfur dioxide,nitrogen oxides, chemical oxygen demand and ammonia nitrogen, environmental protection technology and equipment will mainly focused on the development and promotion of a number of much-needed equipment and product, the improvement of the technological innovation system, the promotion of innovation capability, and breakthroughs in a number of key common environmental technologies. By the end of 2016, the gross domestic production of environmental protection equipment industry is expected to reach 700 billion yuan, with the average annual growth rate remained above 20% in 2014-2016.
It is explicitly proposed in the program that the highlights should be focused on the research efforts and the key technologies should be increased. Currently with the significant demand for domestic and international environmental governance, membrane material used in the water treatment process, high efficient diesel catalysts, and high temperature and dust filter, etc. are considered as the key technologies urgently needed to break through. Also, the construction of a number of demonstration projects is needed to promote the application of advanced environmental technologies in actual production through, so as to enhance the industrial conversion rates of technology advantages.
The five ministries put forward a series of measures to safeguard the smooth implementation of the program: First, increase financial support and innovate financing mode; Second, develop and improve industrial and taxation policies to encourage development and bring enthusiasm to both suppliers and demanders; Third, continue improving the standards of environmental product, while strengthening environmental management, and expanding market demand on environmental protection equipment.
With a strong promotion the industrialization of domestic environmental protection technology and equipment, the five ministries will provide R & D subsidies and expand market demand so as to promote the development of related technologies and to accelerate the development of equipment manufacturing industry.
Therefore, listed companies with relevant environmental protection technology will significantly benefit.
