On September 25, BASF confirmed that it is holding exploratory consultations with Germany’s RAG Foundation and Evonik Industries over a potential acquisition of Evonik. At the current stage, the progress and final outcome of such negotiations remain uncertain.

BASF noted that as part of its corporate strategy, the company continuously assesses strategic acquisition opportunities that can consolidate its core businesses, feature high‑level strategic alignment, drive profit growth and deliver value creation.

Both entities are German chemical enterprises. BASF ranks as the world’s largest chemical company in terms of sales volume, whereas Evonik is a leading producer of specialty chemicals. Foreign media previously reported that BASF and Evonik had held discussions regarding a prospective transaction.
