Li Keqiang visits an exhibition of Chinese equipment manufacturing in Rio de Janeiro

Reporters learned that on the morning of May 20, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited a Chinese equipment manufacturing exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.

The weather in Rio that day was sunny, the sea sparkling, and the newly decorated civilian port terminal had a distinctly "Chinese" feel. In the outdoor exhibition area, Chinese-made cranes, excavators, and other heavy machinery stood tall; inside the exhibition hall, models of Chinese high-speed rail, nuclear power, launch vehicles, and new energy vehicles were displayed.

At around 10:00 am, Li Keqiang arrived at the opening ceremony of the exhibition. The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Mines and Energy, Minister of Communications, and the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, among others, welcomed him at the entrance and accompanied him throughout.

In his address, Li Keqiang said, "During this visit, I reached an important consensus with Brazilian leaders on the development of China-Brazil production capacity cooperation. China is willing to cooperate with Brazil in the fields of locomotives and rolling stock, shipbuilding, automobiles, steel, and building materials, not only exporting high-quality equipment that meets environmental standards, but also establishing production lines and repair plants in Brazil, training local personnel, and creating jobs. China is willing to import high-quality agricultural products and competitive equipment manufacturing products from Brazil. China-Brazil production capacity and equipment manufacturing cooperation will combine Brazil's economic development and industrial investment needs with China's production capacity and equipment manufacturing advantages, which will surely benefit both countries in achieving mutual benefit and win-win results, and common development."

Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira and Rio de Janeiro Governor Pezang stated that the strategic partnership between Brazil and China has provided broad space for economic cooperation between the two countries. Chinese subway vehicles, ferries, and other products are cost-effective and highly competitive, and are welcomed by the Brazilian people. Brazil is willing to carry out equipment manufacturing and production capacity cooperation with China, expand trade in high-quality products, and welcomes and supports Chinese companies in participating in infrastructure construction projects such as subways, railways, broadband networks, and water projects in Brazil. They believe that Premier Li Keqiang's visit will open up a brighter future for the development of bilateral relations and the deepening of practical cooperation.

In the presence of more than 200 guests, Li Keqiang, the Brazilian Foreign Minister, and the Governor of Rio de Janeiro jointly cut the ribbon for the exhibition.

Afterwards, Li Keqiang visited the exhibition hall, introduced Chinese products to the accompanying Brazilian ministers and governors, and had cordial exchanges with representatives of exhibiting companies, encouraging them to make new contributions to China-Brazil production capacity and equipment manufacturing cooperation.

This exhibition was jointly organized by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and undertaken by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. It was divided into 10 sections: railways and rail transit, electricity, communication equipment and information technology, petroleum and petrochemicals, metallurgy and building materials, engineering machinery, aerospace, automobiles, and financial support, with 30 exhibiting companies representing the highest level of equipment manufacturing in China. The exhibition will be open to the Brazilian public.
