Q1 Environmental Analysis Meeting on Hazardous Waste

Bian Jiang, the person in charge of the Precious Metals Recycling Committee of the China Resource Recycling Association, reported on the characteristics of the precious metals recycling industry, the main environmental policy issues currently encountered, and put forward suggestions for hazardous waste management at the exchange meeting. In order to conduct a thorough analysis of the hazardous waste environmental situation, gain a deeper understanding and judgment of the impact of hazardous waste environmental management policies, and promote the healthy development of the hazardous waste utilization and disposal industry, the Hazardous Waste Management Office of the Solid Waste Management Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection organized a first quarter hazardous waste environmental situation analysis and exchange meeting in Beijing on March 23-24, 2017, to study the overall operation of hazardous waste environmental risk prevention and control nationwide. Environmental situation analysis is an important component of the macro situation analysis of national economic and social development, and an important foundation for environmental protection departments to participate in comprehensive decision-making and macroeconomic regulation. Since 2016, the situation of environmental risk prevention and control of hazardous waste in China has undergone profound changes. Multiple new policies for the prevention and control of hazardous waste pollution have been introduced intensively, and the hazardous waste utilization and disposal industry has entered a new stage of development. Hazardous waste cases have become a new hot topic in environmental public opinion.
The responsible persons for hazardous waste management, including the China Association for Material Recycling, the Environmental Protection Industry Association, the Jiangsu Provincial Solid Waste Management Center, the Zhejiang Provincial Solid Waste Management Center, the Guangdong Provincial Solid Waste Management Center, the Hunan Provincial Solid Waste Management Station, and local environmental protection departments, conducted discussions and exchanges on the current development status, layout, and disposal capabilities of the hazardous waste industry, the effectiveness of new hazardous waste environmental policies, and the difficulties and hot issues encountered in the operation of enterprises.
