The 9th China Precious Metals Recycling International Forum, hosted by the Precious Metals Recycling Professional Committee of the China National Materials Recycling Association, was held at the Hangzhou Four Points by Sheraton Hotel from October 26th to 28th. The China Precious Metals Recycling International Forum is an important event in the precious metals industry, to a certain extent guiding the development direction of the precious metals industry. More than 300 enterprise representatives from around the globe attended, bringing together various aspects of the industry, including precious metal recycling, processing, utilization, technology, trade, testing, market, transportation, and information.

Due to the tight conference schedule, the organizing committee specially arranged an industry exchange cocktail party on the day of registration. The cocktail party lasted until 11:30 pm, giving participants ample time to exchange ideas and discuss cooperation in a relaxed environment.

Given the large number of attendees, the conference organizers specially arranged 10 exclusive corporate negotiation areas, as well as a trade negotiation area, an e-waste negotiation area, an electroplating and anode slime negotiation area, a petrochemical and pharmaceutical industry negotiation area, and an automotive three-way catalyst negotiation area, allowing participants to easily find the right people to connect with and providing great convenience for participating companies.

Liu Qiang, Executive Vice President of the China National Materials Recycling Association, delivered the opening address and gave a special speech on the promotion of the development of the precious metals industry under China's 13th Five-Year Plan. He elaborated on the development trend of China's precious metals industry from a strategic and macro perspective. President Liu pointed out that because the precious metals industry is smaller in scale and more dispersed than the large non-ferrous metal industries such as copper, aluminum, lead, and zinc, and is categorized under the large non-ferrous metal industry, it cannot enjoy some preferential policies. The Association has therefore suggested to the relevant national ministries and commissions that the precious metals industry be separated from the large non-ferrous metal industry and that relevant policies and regulations be formulated separately. This work is being gradually implemented, providing strong support for the development of China's precious metals industry through practical actions.
In 2015, precious metal prices continued to fall, and the industry was sluggish. As a major consumer of precious metals globally, whether China's demand will continue to decline next year was a key concern of this conference. At the conference, representatives from major precious metal companies worldwide analyzed the domestic and international precious metal landscape and development direction from various aspects, including industry conditions and development trends. Hu Min, General Manager of Heraeus Metal (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., the conference's chief sponsor, gave a report on sampling technology. Peter Duncan, Market Research General Manager of Johnson Matthey, one of the world's five major platinum group metal price setters, gave a report on the growth of industrial demand for precious metals in the Chinese market. He also announced for the first time at this conference that Johnson Matthey's Platinum Yearbook will be made publicly available for free worldwide for reference by global precious metal companies. BASF Metal highlighted the importance of the Asia-Pacific region and the Chinese market in its report and clearly stated that BASF will invest in its recycling and refining business in China, putting forward the slogan of focusing on Asia and catching up with China. Metal Focus, INSPEC, Lifor Group, and Anxin Securities also gave wonderful reports on the issues that companies are most concerned about this year.

Bian Jiang, Secretary-General of the Precious Metals Recycling Professional Committee of the China National Materials Recycling Association and the organizer of the conference, delivered a summary speech. He stated that in its future work, the China Precious Metals Recycling Professional Committee will work together with excellent domestic and foreign enterprises and relevant government departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Administration of Taxation, to explore the development ideas of the precious metals industry, cooperate with government departments to study and formulate relevant laws, regulations, and standards, gradually improve various systems, accelerate the construction of the enterprise credit system, and work together to promote the steady development of China's precious metals industry, save resources, protect the environment, and ensure industrial production.
