China Nonferrous Metals Enterprises Confidence Index Report (Q2 2024)

In the second quarter of 2024, the confidence index of non-ferrous metal enterprises is 50.8, which is above the critical point of 50, an increase of 0.9 points compared to the first quarter. The spot index for the second quarter is 51, an increase of 2.6 points from the first quarter; the expectation index is 50.6, a decrease of 0.2 points from the first quarter.

In the second quarter of 2024, the confidence index of non-ferrous metal enterprises is 50.8, above the critical point of 50, an increase of 0.9 points from the first quarter. The spot index for the second quarter is 51, an increase of 2.6 points from the first quarter; the expectation index is 50.6, a decrease of 0.2 points from the first quarter. Since the fourth quarter of 2023, the confidence index has risen for two consecutive quarters, and the increase in the spot index is quite significant, indicating a positive trend in the development of the non-ferrous metal industry. However, the slight decline in the expectation index in the second quarter marks a certain uncertainty among enterprises regarding future market development. For details, see Figure 1 and Figure 2.
