China's precious metals industry started relatively late, and its technology, management, and overall strength lag far behind established international precious metals companies. To develop China's precious metals industry, integrate with the international community, promote international exchanges, and strengthen international cooperation, the Precious Metals Recycling Special Committee of the China物资再生协会 will lead domestic precious metals companies to Europe for investigation and visits from May 8th to 18th during the Global Platinum Group Metals Week. We will also conduct exchanges with European precious metals companies and experts. Precious metals related companies and relevant units are invited to actively participate.

Petrochemical Waste Catalyst Standards Committee Established

The types and quantities of spent catalysts from the petrochemical industry are vast, with over 1 million tons generated in 2016, accounting for 8.7% of all hazardous waste. As almost all spent catalysts were classified as HW50 hazardous waste under the newly promulgated and implemented Catalogue of Hazardous Wastes in 2016, standardized management has become a common challenge for government agencies, industry organizations, and related upstream and downstream enterprises.

The "National Recycling Industry Conference," hosted by the China Association of Recycled Materials, was held in Beijing on July 22 and 23. A sub-conference, the "China Precious Metal Recycling Industry Policy and Standard Seminar," organized by the Precious Metal Recycling Special Committee, was held concurrently. The conference invited guests including Zhai Yong, director of the Legal Affairs Office of the National People's Congress Standing Committee's Environmental and Resources Protection Committee; Ma Rong, deputy director-general of the Department of Circular Economy and Energy Conservation of the National Development and Reform Commission; Ling Jiang, director of the Center for Solid Waste and Chemicals Management of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment; Hu Hualong, deputy director of the same center; Zheng Yang, director of the Hazardous Waste Management Department of the same center; Ding Yifan, deputy director of the World Development Institute of the Development Research Center of the State Council; and Zheng Hui, director of the Energy Conservation Office of the Department of Circulation Development of the Ministry of Commerce, to interpret industry policies and regulations.
